Influence of the pentlandite composition on its flotation characteristics (by roentgenometric data)

On the basis of the published data, microprobe and XRD-analyses it has been established that in the composition of the cooper-nickel ores (the Pechenga mining field) there are four types of pentlandite: ferriferous, usual, nickeliferous and cobaltous. The pentlandite composition influences on floatation properties of mineral. It has been experimentally proved that the nickeliferous pentlandite floats well enough, the cobaltous one - worse, and the pentlandite with a heightened iron content has the least floatoactivity.

Investigation of fusibility in the system albite - aegirite - pentaoxodisilicate natrium - quartz

The paper investigates the system albite - aegirite - pentaoxodisilicate natrium - quartz using the methods of differentially-thermal analysis. The mathematical description of liquidus surface as a function of composition has been given.

The research of electrochemical properties of sulphide minerals in acidic media

Using potentiometry, IR-spectroscopy and optical microscopy the electrochemical properties of sulphide minerals in acidic media have been studied. The sequence of the minerals' oxidation obtained from electrode potentials in H2SРћ4 solution: sphalerite - galena - pentlandite - pyrrhotite - pyrite; in FeCl3 solution: galena - pentlandite - sphalerite - pyrite - chalcopyrite - pyrrhotite. In conditions of tailings being out of exploitation the saturation of porous solutions by oxygen owing to the better aeration has been observed. This produces some shift of sulphides' potentials in the anode area, increase of oxidation rate and pollution of environment by heavy metals. The composition of oxidation products depends on hydrodynamic conditions and concentration of oxygen and ferric ions in the solution.

On using vermiculite ores reject material as raw material for magnesium compounds' manufacture

The alternative scenario marked in the headline has been analyzed in the paper. The isotope 79Se has been considered as a migrant. The conceptual and mathematical models of the considered scenario are similar to the corresponding models of the normal evolution scenario of the underground radiation-dangerous object. The analysis of numerical experiments results has been held on the following factors: 1) spatial distribution of the isotope 79Se concentration on thickness of engineering barriers (the concrete and bentonite); 2) dynamics of the isotope concentration in the control point at the interface of the near and far field. The research helps define the influence of the considered mistake on the object ecological safety within the framework of the used methodology of the safety assessment.

Research of behaviour of the potassium peroxypentofluorotantalate monohydrate at heating

The interaction of vermiculite ores reject material with hydrochloric acid solutions using chemical and XRD analysis has been investigated. The opportunity of using the tails as raw material for magnesium and iron hydroxide, and also amorphous silica has been proved.

Geoecological validation of mechanisms and parameters of physical-chemical processes facilitating the in-depth processing of complex suphide ores and mining wastes

The advisability of processing copper-nickel ore dressing tailings of current production has been substantiated. The optimal parameters of metal leaching with sulphuric acid have been determined. In laboratory experiments the geotechnological extraction of non-ferrous metals from a leaching layer representing a tailing material of fraction +0.063 mm has been studied. When investigating the geotechnological processes of non-ferrous metal extraction on the basis of two copper-zinc ore deposits located in the Urals, the authors have come to the conclusion that heap leaching is of little use for the ores of the Letneye deposit. Leaching results for the Yaman-Kasy ore have shown more promise.

Artificial geochemical barriers as a way to solution of ecological and technological problems

Possibility of use as an artificial geochemical barrier of various mixtures chemically reactive minerals and rocks, products and wastes of chemical and metallurgical processing of ores and concentrates has been shown. Some examples of application of barriers for creation of anti-filtration screens with a view to purify waste and natural waters and to re-purify non-ferrous metals have been considered.
